Life Science Nord strengthens value creation in the region and has established itself as one of the leading life-science networks in Europe. Around 500 organisations and individuals in industry and research in the cluster region of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg come from the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology and medical technology.
With a complete value chain – from basic and applied research to clinical trials and end-to-end products – the Life Science Nord cluster offers a unique infrastructure: hands-on researchers and clinicians work closely with industry partners to help break new ground with innovative products and technologies.
This commitment to the region is actively supported by Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein; the two federal states are each 40% shareholders in the cluster agency Life Science Nord Management GmbH. The cluster management coordinates a variety of activities, organises and participates in events, provides information on cluster news, provides advice and initiates strategic projects for the development of innovative medicines, medical devices and services. In addition, cluster management links business, research and politics in the north of Germany, bringing with it the expertise of universities and research institutions as well as its own close contacts with companies.
In addition, more than 230 companies and organisations in the biomedical and related sectors have organised themselves as the sponsorship and industry association Life Science Nord e.V. This association has a 20% share in the cluster management and consolidates the interests of its members. The association offers its members additional benefits in a partner programme in cooperation with the cluster management.
